Description
The Abelia 'Pink Pong' (Abelia grandiflora) is a bushy, dense small shrub that produces dark pink, bell-shaped flowers. They appear from May to October. The Abelia 'Pink Pong' also has lanceolate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, lime-free soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1.5 metres and grows to a width of approx. 1.2 metres.

The wintergreen leaves of the Abelia 'Pink Pong' are dark green, lanceolate. They are about 3 - 4 cm in size. Abelia 'Pink Pong' turns bright bronze in autumn.

Winter protection is advisable in unprotected areas of the garden.

Growth
Abelia 'Pink Pong' is a bushy and densely growing small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 0.7 - 1.5 m and is approx. 0.5 - 1.2 m wide. It usually grows 15 - 30 cm per year.

Water
The plant has a medium water requirement.

Location
Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

Soil
Standard container plant soil. Normal soil.

Planting time
Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).

Tasks
Fertilise potted plants: Every 2 weeks from March to September.

Care
Over time, the soil loses some of its important properties. The plants should therefore be transplanted into a larger pot with fresh container plant soil every two years in spring.

The dark pink, bell-shaped flowers appear from May to October. These grow to about 3 - 4 cm in size.
