Description
The Italian maple (Acer opalus) is a broad, roundish large shrub or small tree that produces lemon-yellow flowers arranged in clusters. These produce green-brown winged fruits. The Italian maple also has dark green leaves. The green-red shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is red-brown and smooth. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous, sandy, loamy, dry soil, it usually grows to a height of around 12 metres and is around 10 metres wide.
