Description
The Japanese maple 'Ao Yagi Gawa' (Acer palmatum) is a multi-stemmed, umbrella-shaped, picturesque, deciduous large shrub with decorative, cut, medium green leaves with light green markings. It also bears purple-red flowers arranged in clusters in May. These produce red-brown winged fruits. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3.5 metres and grows to a width of around 3 metres.
