Description
The Japanese maple 'Sangokaku' (Acer palmatum) is a multi-stemmed, picturesque large shrub that produces purple-red flowers arranged in clusters. They appear in May. These produce red-brown winged fruits. The Japanese maple 'Sangokaku' also bears cut, light green leaves. The dark pink-coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is red-brown in colour. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and grows to a width of around 4 metres.
