Description
The Japanese maple 'Scolopendrifolium' (Acer palmatum) is a large, round, branched shrub that produces purple-red flowers arranged in clusters. They appear in May. These produce red-brown winged fruits. The Japanese maple 'Scolopendrifolium' also bears cut, light green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 5 metres and grows to a width of around 4.5 metres.
