Description
The Japanese maple 'Sumi-nagashi' (Acer palmatum) is a dense, compact, roundish large shrub that produces purple-red flowers arranged in clusters. They appear in May. The Japanese maple 'Sumi-nagashi' also has cut, red-brown leaves. The purple-red shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres and grows to around 4 metres wide.
