Description
The Shirasawa maple 'Aureum' (Acer shirasawanum) is a dense, rounded, deciduous shrub with decorative, yellow-green, red-veined leaves. The light yellow shoots are also an interesting sight. It also bears creamy white flowers from May to June. These produce red winged fruits. In a semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4.5 metres and grows to a width of around 4.5 metres.
