Description
The Alder (Alnus spaethii) is a broad, pyramidal tree that produces brown-yellow flowers. They appear from February to March. These produce brown, oval fruits. The Alder also has leathery, lanceolate, dark green leaves. Its bark is grey and longitudinally furrowed. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 18 metres and grows to a width of around 10 metres. The Alder makes no special demands on the soil.
