Description
The Alder 'Spaeth' (Alnus spaethii) is a cone-shaped tree that produces purple-red flowers arranged in catkins. They appear from February to March. The Alder 'Spaeth' also has shiny, lanceolate, dark green leaves. The brown-purple coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is grey and longitudinally furrowed. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 15 metres. The Alder 'Spaeth' makes no special demands on the soil.
