Description
The Allegheny serviceberry 'Ballerina' (Amelanchier laevis) is a large, upright shrub that produces white, star-shaped flowers arranged in clusters. They appear from April to May. These produce black-red, round fruits from July. They are medium-sized. The Allegheny serviceberry 'Ballerina' also has matt, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. The bronze-coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and grows to around 6 metres wide. The Allegheny serviceberry 'Ballerina' makes no particular demands on the soil.
