Description
The Japanese spikenard (Aralia cordata) is a shrub-like perennial with decorative, pinnate, serrated, light green leaves. From June to August, it bears white flowers arranged in umbels. Decorative black shoot tips develop from the flowers in August. In a sunny to semi-shady location with loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 3 metres and grows to a width of approx. 1.5 metres. The Japanese spikenard is well tolerant of frost.
