Description
The False indigo (Baptisia australis) is a bushy, upright perennial with decorative, lanceolate, grey-green leaves. From July to August, it bears blue-violet, butterfly-shaped flowers arranged in umbels. In a sunny location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, sandy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1 m and grows to a width of approx. 80 cm. The False indigo is well tolerant of frost.
