Description
The False indigo 'Purple Smoke' (Baptisia australis) is a bushy, upright perennial with decorative, lanceolate, grey-green leaves. From May to June, it bears purple-violet, butterfly-shaped flowers arranged in umbels. In a sunny location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, sandy soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 90 cm and is approx. 80 cm wide. The False indigo 'Purple Smoke' is well tolerant of frost.
