Description
The Japanese barberry 'Red Pillar' (Berberis thunbergii) is a dense, overhanging, branched, slender shrub or small bush with decorative, red fruits that stay on for a very long time. It produces yellow flowers in May. The Japanese barberry 'Red Pillar' also has egg-shaped, dark red leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1.5 m and grows to a width of approx. 90 cm.
