Description
The Japanese barberry 'Ruby Star' (Berberis thunbergii) is a dense, overhanging, branched, compact shrub with decorative, red fruits that stay on for a very long time. It produces copper-orange or yellow flowers in May. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 30 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide.
