Description
The Japanese barberry 'Ruby Star' (Berberis thunbergii) is a dense, overhanging, branched, compact shrub with decorative red berries that remain on the plant for a very long time. Before these appear, it produces copper-orange or yellow flowers in May. In a sunny to semi-shaded position with well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 30 cm and spreads to approx. 40 cm.
