Description
The Japanese barberry 'Silver Pillar' (Berberis thunbergii) is an upright, vigorous shrub with decorative, red fruits that stay on for a very long time. It produces yellow flowers in May. The Japanese barberry 'Silver Pillar' also has egg-shaped, green-white leaves. The yellow shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 2 metres and grows to around 1.2 metres wide.
