Description
The Monarch birch (Betula maximowicziana) is a sprawling, loose, large tree that produces greenish-yellow flowers arranged in catkins. They appear from March to April. These produce light brown fruits. The Monarch birch also has heart-shaped, medium green leaves. Its bark is orange-white, rolling. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and grows to a width of around 12 metres. The Monarch birch makes no special demands on the soil.
