Description
The Silver birch 'Purpurea' (Betula pendula) is a slender, deciduous small tree with decorative, triangular, purple-red leaves. The dark red shoots are also an interesting sight. It also bears greenish-yellow flowers arranged in catkins from March to April. In a sunny location, it usually reaches a height of around 15 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres. The Silver birch 'Purpurea' makes no particular demands on the soil.
