Description
The Common camellia (Camellia japonica) is a very popular, evergreen container plant that can produce brown fruit if well cared for. Its decorative flowers appear from February to May. The dark green leaves are lanceolate and glossy, leathery. The location should be as sunny to semi-shady as possible. A well-drained, humus-rich, sandy and loamy soil is ideal. Under favourable conditions, the Common camellia reaches a height of approx. 3 m and grows up to 2 m wide.

Leaves
The evergreen leaves of Common camellia are dark green, lanceolate, glossy, leathery and alternate. They are about 5 - 8 cm tall.

Common camellia is an upright-growing shrub that can reach a height of 2 - 3 m and a width of 1.5 - 2 m.

The plant needs plenty of water. Do not allow the soil to dry out.
