The Common camellia 'Red Ensign' (Camellia japonica) is a very popular evergreen container plant. Its bright red flowers appear from January to March. The dark green leaves are lanceolate and glossy, leathery. The location should be as sunny to semi-shady as possible. A well-drained, humus-rich, sandy and loamy soil is ideal. Under favourable conditions, the Common camellia 'Red Ensign' reaches a height of approx. 3 m and grows up to 2 m wide.
