Description
The Kamelie 'Rainbow' (Camellia sasanqua) is an upright, dense, evergreen large shrub with decorative, glossy, lanceolate, dark green leaves. The brown-purple coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. It also bears white-pink flowers from October to February. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with well-drained, humus-rich, lime-free, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and grows to around 5 metres wide.

Leaves
High leaf ornamental value. The evergreen leaves of the Kamelie 'Rainbow' are dark green, lanceolate, glossy and alternate. They are about 3 - 5 cm in size. Brown-purple coloured shoots.

A frost-free winter at 8 to 12°C is required.

Planting time
Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).

Excess water must be able to drain away easily and waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.

The white-pink flowers appear from October to February. They grow to about 6 - 8 cm and are strongly scented.
