Description
The Common hornbeam 'Purpurea' (Carpinus betulus) is an upright, roundish, deciduous tree with decorative, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. The dark red shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 12 metres and grows to a width of approx. 5 metres.
