Description
The Sweet chestnut 'Asplenifolia' (Castanea sativa) is a sprawling, deciduous large tree with decorative, lanceolate, dark green leaves. It also bears creamy white flowers from June to July. These produce brown fruits from October. They exude a strong fragrance. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 30 metres and grows to a width of around 20 metres.
