Description
The Sweet chestnut 'Variegata' (Castanea sativa) is a spreading, deciduous large tree or tree with decorative, glossy, lanceolate, dark green leaves with a creamy white edge. It also bears creamy white flowers from June to July. These produce brown fruits from October. They exude a strong fragrance. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 30 metres and grows to a width of around 15 metres.
