Description
The Purple hybrid catalpa 'Purpurea' (Catalpa erubescens) is a conical, spreading small tree that produces white flowers arranged in panicles. They appear from July to August. These produce brown capsules. The Purple hybrid catalpa 'Purpurea' also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. The black-brown shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is grey. In a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 10 metres and grows to a width of around 8 metres.
