Description
The Eastern redbud 'Merlot' (Cercis canadensis) is a sprawling, picturesque, shrub-like, deciduous large shrub with decorative, heart-shaped, dark red leaves. It also bears lilac-coloured, butterfly-shaped flowers from April to May. In a sunny location with well-drained, calcareous soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres and is around 4 metres wide.
