Description
The Japanese cornelian cherry (Cornus officinalis) is a sprawling, multi-stemmed large shrub with decorative, scarlet-red, oval fruits. These exude a pleasant fragrance. It produces yellow flowers from February to March. The Japanese cornelian cherry also has shiny, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, calcareous soil, it usually reaches a height of around 7 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres.
