Description
The Hazel 'Heterophylla' (Corylus avellana) is a large, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with decorative, egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. The green-red shoots are also an interesting sight. It also bears yellow flowers arranged in catkins from February to March. Brown nuts emerge from these from September. In a sunny to shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 5 metres and grows to a width of around 3.5 metres.
