Description
The Turkish hazel 'Granat' (Corylus colurna) is a small, conical tree with decorative, brown, round nuts. Before these appear, it produces greenish-yellow flowers arranged in catkins from March to April. The Turkish hazel 'Granat' also has rounded, dark red leaves. In a sunny to semi-shaded position with well-drained, calcareous, slightly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 15 m and a width of around 10 m.

Leaves
High ornamental value. The deciduous leaves of Turkish hazel 'Granat' are dark red, rounded, alternate and serrated. They are approximately 8–12 cm in size. Turkish hazel 'Granat' turns a brilliant golden yellow in autumn.
