Description
The Filbert (Corylus maxima) is a large shrub that produces yellow flowers. These appear from March to April. From August onwards, these develop into red fruits. The Filbert also has rounded, dark green leaves. In a sunny position with well-drained, humus-rich, sandy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 8 m and spreads to around 4 m.

The deciduous leaves of the Filbert are dark green, roundish.

Filbert is a large shrub. It usually reaches a height of 6–8 m and spreads to a width of approx. 3–4 m.

Planting time
Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).

Care
To increase vigour and flowering, the plant should be cut back a hand's breadth above the ground every 3-5 years.

The yellow flowers appear from March to April.

Fruit
Corylus maxima produces red fruits. They ripen from August onwards.
