Description
The Midland hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata) is an irregular, branched large shrub that produces white flowers arranged in panicles. They appear from May to June. These produce scarlet-red, oval fruits from August. The Midland hawthorn also has shiny, leathery, egg-shaped, dark green leaves. Its bark is dark grey, flaky and scaly. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and grows to a width of around 6 metres.
