Description
The Japanese hornwort 'Atropurpurea' (Cryptotaenia japonica) is an upright perennial with decorative, egg-shaped, lanceolate, serrated, dark red leaves. From May to June, it bears white, star-shaped flowers arranged in umbels. In a semi-shady location with well-drained soil, it usually grows to a height of approx. 40 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide. The Japanese hornwort 'Atropurpurea' is well tolerant of frost.
