Description
The Desert candle (Eremurus x isabellinus) produces attractive, yellow, white and pink-coloured flowers from May to July. It prefers well-drained soil in a sunny position. The plant usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.2 m and grows up to 50 cm wide.
Frost hardiness
The Desert candle has good frost hardiness.
Growth
Eremurus x isabellinus can reach a height of 1 - 1.2 m and a width of 40 - 50 cm.
Water
Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.
Location
Preferred location in a sunny position.
Soil
Normal soil.
Planting time
Planting: depending on variety in autumn or spring.
Care
- If the plant is divided every 2-3 years and weak roots and shoots are removed, the reward is better growth and flowering vigour!
- If the plant is watered less frequently but thoroughly and penetratingly, the roots are encouraged to penetrate deeper into the soil. This helps the plant to survive periods of drought.
Flower
The yellow, white, pink-coloured flowers appear from May to July.
