Description
The Mountain witch alder (Fothergilla major) is a bushy, upright shrub that produces white flowers arranged in spikes with a strong fragrance. They appear in May. Green capsules emerge from these. They exude a strong fragrance. The Mountain witch alder also has egg-shaped, medium green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected location with humusy, sandy, acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to around 2 metres wide.
