Description
The Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) is an upright shrub that produces white flowers. They appear from July to August. From August onwards, these produce bright red, round fruits that last a very long time. The Winterberry also has lanceolate, dark green leaves. The red shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is black. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 3 metres and grows to a width of approx. 3 metres.
