The Japanese flag 'Dinner Plate® Ice Cream' (Iris ensata) is a rhizome-forming perennial that produces bright lilac-coloured, plate-shaped flowers in June. Its lanceolate leaves are medium green in colour. In a sunny location with humus-rich, lime-free, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1 m and grows to a width of approx. 70 cm. The Japanese flag 'Dinner Plate® Ice Cream' is well tolerant of frost.
