Description
The Loropetalum 'Black Pearl'® (Loropetalum chinense) is a bushy, dense, branched, winter-green garden plant with decorative, dark green leaves. It also bears red flowers from April to October. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1.5 m and grows to approx. 1.5 m wide.

Leaves
High foliage ornamental value. The wintergreen leaves of the Loropetalum 'Black Pearl'® are dark green.

Frost hardiness
Winter protection is advisable in unprotected areas of the garden.

Growth
Loropetalum 'Black Pearl'® is bushy, dense and branched in structure. It usually grows 10 - 25 cm per year.

Water
The plant needs plenty of water. Do not allow the soil to dry out.

Location
Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Soil
Standard container plant soil. Normal soil.

Planting time
Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).

Care
- Over time, the soil loses some important properties. The plants should therefore be transplanted every two years in spring into a larger pot with fresh container plant soil. - A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.

Flower
The red flowers appear from April to October. They are pleasantly fragrant.
