Description
The Chinese virginia creeper (Parthenocissus henryana) is a climbing, deciduous plant with decorative, black-blue fruits. It produces yellow-green, wheel-shaped flowers from June to August. The Chinese virginia creeper also has lanceolate, fingered, dark green, white-veined leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 10 metres and grows to a width of around 7 metres.

The deciduous leaves of Chinese virginia creeper are dark green, white-veined, lanceolate, fingered and toothed. Chinese virginia creeper turns bright scarlet in autumn.

Growth
Chinese virginia creeper is a climbing plant which can reach a height of 9 - 10 m and a width of 5 - 7 m. It usually grows 50 - 90 cm per year.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Normal soil.

Planting time
Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).

Care
- A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time. - In general, stable wooden structures can be recommended as climbing aids on house walls and facades. However, there are plants that prefer slightly twisted, parallel wire ropes as climbing aids.

Flower
The yellow-green, wheel-shaped flowers appear from June to August.

Fruit
The black-blue berries of Parthenocissus henryana are particularly decorative. These appear from September.
