Description
The New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax) is a very popular evergreen container plant. Its decorative flowers appear from April to May. The multi-coloured leaves are linear. The location should be as sunny to semi-shady as possible. Well-drained, humus-rich soil is ideal. Under favourable conditions, the New Zealand flax reaches a height of approx. 2.5 m and grows up to 2 m wide.

If necessary, the plant can also be repotted outdoors in spring, which saves cleaning work indoors. - Hardy, but frost-sensitive potted plants must be winterised before the first cold days. To do this, the pot can be wrapped with fleece, coconut or straw mats, jute or bubble wrap. Evergreen plants also need to be watered on frost-free winter days.
