Description
The Sitka spruce 'Silberzwerg' (Picea sitchensis) is a large tree that grows pyramidally and usually reaches a height of around 1.2 metres and a width of around 1.5 metres. Its needle-shaped, shiny leaves have a medium green colour. Decorative brown-yellow cones adorn Picea sitchensis 'Silberzwerg' from August. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Care
This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the strings must of course be removed again.

Fruit
The brown-yellow cones of Picea sitchensis 'Silberzwerg' are large and cylindrical and appear from August. The young cones are light green in colour.
