Description
The Japanese andromeda 'Katsura' (Pieris japonica) is a bushy, broad, compact shrub or small shrub that produces white flowers arranged in panicles. They appear from April to May. These produce light brown, round fruits from August. The Japanese andromeda 'Katsura' also has shiny, lanceolate, dark green leaves. The dark red shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is reddish-brown, torn in strips. In a semi-shady to shady, wind-protected location with humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1 m and is approx. 1.2 m wide.
