Description
The Balsam poplar (Populus balsamifera) is an upright, slender tree that produces greenish flowers arranged in catkins. They appear from March to April. These produce white fruits. The Balsam poplar also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. Its bark is grey and deeply fissured. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 25 metres and grows to a width of around 10 metres. The Balsam poplar makes no special demands on the soil.
