Description
The Common aspen (Populus tremula) is a loose, irregular, picturesque small tree that produces purple-red flowers arranged in catkins. They appear from the beginning of March to mid-March. These produce silver-grey fruits. The Common aspen also has matt, roundish, medium green leaves. Its bark is grey-green and smooth. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and grows to a width of around 11 metres.
