Description
The Wild cherry (Prunus avium) produces red fruits. They have a sweet, aromatic flavour. Well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich soil and a sunny to semi-shady location create the ideal conditions for a high-yielding harvest from June. Its white, pleasantly fragrant flowers are a beautiful sight. The Wild cherry with its egg-shaped habit grows to around 20 metres high and 15 metres wide.

Leaves
The deciduous leaves of the Wild cherry are medium green, ovate, alternate, serrated. They are about 10 - 15 cm in size. Wild cherry is bright orange-yellow in autumn.

Care
- Excess water must be able to drain away easily and waterlogging should be avoided at all costs. - Fruit trees planted in spring must be watered generously throughout the summer. Well-rooted plants only need additional water in extremely dry conditions. - Frozen shoots should be cut back to the healthy wood as soon as there is no longer a risk of frost.

Flower
Prunus avium forms white flowers from April. These exude a pleasant fragrance and grow to around 2 - 3 cm in size.
