Description
The Caucasian wing nut (Pterocarya fraxinifolia) is a spreading, multi-stemmed tree with decorative, light green wing fruits. It produces green flowers arranged in catkins in May. The Caucasian wing nut also bears pinnate, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with calcareous, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 25 metres and grows to a width of around 15 metres.
