Description
The Downy oak (Quercus pubescens) is a roundish small tree that produces golden yellow flowers arranged in catkins. They appear in May. These produce brown-yellow fruits. The Downy oak also has egg-shaped, medium green leaves. Its bark is grey, deeply fissured and corky. In a sunny to semi-shady location with calcareous, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 16 metres.
