Description
The Kirishima azalea 'Canzonetta' (Rhododendron obtusum) produces a veritable sea of carmine-red flowers from the end of May to mid-June. Its winter-green foliage is dark green. This dense, flat, compact growing shrub usually reaches a height of 30 - 35 cm and a width of 80 to 90 cm. A semi-shady (to shady) location and well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil create ideal conditions for healthy growth. The Kirishima azalea 'Canzonetta' is well tolerant of frost.

The carmine-red, funnel-shaped flowers appear from the end of May to mid-June. These grow to about 2 - 3 cm in size.
