Description
The Kirishima azalea 'Izumi-No-Mai' (Rhododendron obtusum) produces a veritable sea of bicoloured flowers from May to June. Its winter-green foliage is dark green. This upright, stocky growing shrub usually reaches a height of 0.5 - 1.5 metres and a width of 0.5 to 1.5 metres. A semi-shady (to shady) location and well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil create optimum conditions for healthy growth. The Kirishima azalea 'Izumi-No-Mai' is well tolerant of frost.

- Yellow leaves on rhododendrons can be a sign of too high a lime content in the soil. Iron and magnesium fertiliser, for example, can help. - This plant should only be watered with lime-free water. Rainwater is particularly suitable for this purpose. - Cut back frozen shoots to the healthy wood as soon as there is no longer any danger of frost.

Flower
The two-coloured, funnel-shaped flowers appear from May to June. These grow to around 2 - 3 cm in size.
