Description
The Kirishima azalea 'Purpurkissen'(s) (Rhododendron obtusum) produces a veritable sea of carmine-red flowers in June. Its winter-green foliage is dark green. This broad, dense, rounded shrub usually grows to a height of 35 - 40 cm and a width of 80 to 90 cm. A semi-shady (to shady) location and well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil create optimum conditions for healthy growth. The Kirishima azalea 'Purpurkissen'(s) is well tolerant of frost.
